Mental Health Initiatives
Our mental health programs are tailored to provide culturally sensitive support that addresses the specific needs of immigrant seniors. We offer:
- Individual Counseling: Partnering with Simon Fraser University, we provide low-barrier, one-on-one counseling services in Middle Eastern languages and English. Our counselors are trained in culturally sensitive practices to help seniors navigate emotional and psychological challenges.
- Peer Support Groups: These groups offer a safe space for seniors to share their experiences, connect with others, and receive mutual support. Sessions are conducted in person, over the phone, or via Zoom, ensuring accessibility for all participants.
- Financial Counseling: We offer financial counseling to help seniors manage their finances, understand economic systems, and achieve financial stability.

Resilience Building Workshops
Our workshops are designed to equip seniors with practical skills to cope with stress and adversity, enhancing their overall resilience:

We collaborate with the Racist Incident Helpline and other local organizations to provide comprehensive support for those affected by racism:
- Integration with Racist Incident Helpline: Ensuring timely support and follow-up for callers referred to us, providing necessary mental health services.
- Collaborative Efforts: Working with local organizations to amplify anti-racism initiatives, share best practices, and build a united front against discrimination.

Timelines
Our programs are developed and launched in phases to ensure effective implementation and continuous improvement:
- Development Phase (September 2024 – March 2025): Recruiting and training counselors, developing educational materials, and setting up necessary infrastructure.
- Implementation Phase: Rolling out services, conducting workshops, and organizing community events.
- Evaluation Phase: Continuous evaluation and feedback mechanisms to ensure the effectiveness and relevance of our services.
